Is Lee Cronin's The Mummy worth watching? (No spoilers)

Worth watching

A seriously gross, amazing possession horror movie. The body horror is hard to watch (the shin and toenails especially), the makeup is incredible, and the family feels like real people. The third act wobbles a bit, but it's much better than some of Lee Cronin's other horror films. Worth watching if you can stomach it.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy review

Phenomenal. The body horror was disgusting and hard to watch at times. Especially the shin and toenails. The horror in other parts was mostly strong, however the last 30 minutes was touch and go for a bit. The ending was good, the very last few minutes were strong, but nothing special enough to lift it up much higher, and my thoughts are that the first two acts were far stronger than the third. Acting across the board was amazing, as well as the makeup (obviously). Soundtrack was well done, the family felt like a real family which I liked. Loved that they tied in the detective and detective narrative, and kept us guessing with main characters. Overall much better than some of his other horror films.

Is Lee Cronin's The Mummy scary?

Scare level: 4/5

Yes, and it's gross. This is body and possession horror in the same style as Evil Dead Rise: self-mutilation, bloody makeup effects, and constant family dread. A few moments are genuinely hard to look at. Not one for the squeamish.

Lee Cronin's The Mummy ending explained

Katie comes home years after vanishing, but she isn't really Katie anymore. A woman known as the Magician kidnapped her and made her the vessel for an ancient demon, one that can only be contained, never destroyed. The markings on Katie's skin are protective bindings, which is why the demon keeps trying to scrape them off.

To save his daughter, her father Charlie has the detective perform the ritual and moves the demon into himself. Katie survives, scarred but alive, and Charlie is left as the demon's mummified prison. He still manages to tap out 'I love you' in Morse code.

In the epilogue, the Magician wakes up in prison to find the detective and Larissa at her cell with the mummified Charlie. They paralyze her and use the spell to put the demon into her. The evil ends up back with the person who started it all, though since she knows real magic, she may be an even more dangerous host.

Does Lee Cronin's The Mummy have a post-credits scene?

No. Lee Cronin's The Mummy has no mid-credits or post-credits scene. The big twist happens before the credits, so you can leave once they start.
