The Invite (2026) · 4/5

What an uncomfortable, tense, awkward, cringe-worthy mess. Also one of my favorite films this year.
What starts as a funny picture of a couple who can't stand each other goes from a ridiculous night to straight unbelievable, and every moment somehow gets crazier. Neither of the main characters is at fault for the other's problems, and both have dug this hole together. Seeing two people so caught up in each other's faults is exhausting to watch, and kind of terrifying.
It's great to see Edward Norton and Seth Rogen in something this good, and I love that it doesn't waste time on anyone else. It's basically a play, and it works.
Worth watching? Absolutely.
